I worked with Shepard Fairey for over a decade, starting as copy editor and then managing editor of SWINDLE magazine, which he co-founded, and going on to edit four of his books, as well as countless smaller writing projects.

Shepard's work and ideas have profoundly influenced how I see the people's lives impacted by their everyday interactions with communications in public spaces. Those of us in the business of communication, whether we consider ourselves artists, marketers or both, are constantly attempting to insinuate our work into the lives of others, and we're most effective when we see how our tiny pieces fit into that much larger puzzle.
